A big part of being a student athlete is helping others, whether it be through fundraising, running in races, or just helping a group in need. This weekend the RSAAC (Rosemont Student Athletes Advisory Committee) has planned a great event for students! A select group of Rosemont athletes are going to Neshaminy State Park to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge event. Although jumping into icy cold water in the middle of the winter seems crazy, it actually benefits a great cause. Those who dare to take the plunge will be supporting local athletes who will be participating in the Special Olympics this summer in Princeton, NJ. This great cause benefits children and adults with special needs in our local area. We wish all those participating in both events good luck!
Aside from the Polar Bear Plunge, RSAAC has planned many other fundraisers this year, raising nearly $1,000. I can’t stress enough that being an athlete doesn’t just mean playing your favorite sport. When I got to college, I realized how much more being an athlete meant, not just to me, but the community around me as well.
Notably, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 Rosemont College Athletics will be launching a new website, which will have a lot of new and cool features, like live statistics with pictures updated from Rosemont’s athletic games. We will also post pictures of different events hosted by the RSAAC. This will be really helpful for people who can’t catch a game to be able to check in from off campus! This is great for prospective students who are interested in attending a game but can’t to get an opportunity to watch a game!
Also on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 we will be holding our annual Raven Madness night. This is one of the most exciting events in the spring semester and it is definitely worth attending. The night will consist of men and women’s basketball games, free food, and giveaways. The night starts at 6pm when the lady Ravens take on Immaculata University and is followed by a men’s game at 8pm. Come out to support both teams and show your school spirit.
If you have any questions or comments for me email me email@example.com. GO RAVENS!!!
